All a board the MBH Express

Saturday 10th June

We would like parents to run the refeshments stand,

if you can help please let us know!

Please arrive anytime from 12.30 onwards, the car parking will be in a field close to the “base”

once parked we ask you to make your way straight up to the station.

Please bring your own picnic which can be enjoyed on the lovely grassed area

whilst you watch as the railway volunteers prepare the trains and fire up the locos.

The first train departs at 2pm. The last train will pull into the station around 5-00pm.

Please note , children under the age of 6 will only be allowed on board

if accompanied by a responsible adult.

The site is laid out in three “loops” of track which fan out from the central base , which houses

the engine sheds , turntable and building in which refreshments can be bought

(manned by MBH volunteers.) There is a total track length of some 1500 metres ,

which means a return trip over the whole railway would cover about 1.7 miles.

Much of the route winds along the side of a dingle ,

high above a brook and rising up a continuous steep gradient as much as 1 in 35.

To gain height the line spirals over itself in one place , having passed through a curved tunnel.

The longest trip takes about half an hour and visitors can take as many trips as they like during the day.
