Liz Morgan & Family

Hi, my name is Liz Morgan and I have a daughter who attends MBH. We live in Wales and it takes us a 3 ½ hour round trip to the centre. The benefits which we receive however, outweigh the travelling by far.

When Shauna started she was unable to put her socks and shoes on. Through all of the staffs’ hard work she is able to do this now. It may not seem a big progression to the average family, but to be able to do that at 9 years old is a massive help to our family life.

Every week the staff work on Shauna’s balance, standing and walking. When Shauna first began her balance and standing were not very good, she would often fall and was very wobbly. Lately her balance has drastically improved and I can now leave her in a standing position without her having to hold onto something. Again this has had such a massive impact on our family life, which is so hard to fully understand unless you are actually in the same position. Shauna has also learnt to pull her own trousers up and down when toileting, another great help to us.

I wish that the government would acknowledge the benefits of Conductive Education run by centres such as MBH and provide financial assistance for the service. To be able to attend MBH free has had such an impact on our family and without it my daughter wouldn’t be where she is today; being independent and being able to do the things a child of her age wants to do.

Shauna Morgan
