
Before your child or you can start attending Conductive Education services at Megan Baker House, you need to fill in an assessment application form either online or contact the centre for a hard copy. Then an assessment needs to be booked. The assessment is carried out by a qualified conductor and takes approximately one hour.
During the assessment, the conductor will have the opportunity to explain a bit more about Conductive Education and also to observe the movements of the individual to establish their current level of abilities and to determine whether Conductive Education would be the best provision for their needs.

People are normally placed into a group with those of a similar age and ability, which helps to develop skills and provides a network of support.
In some rare cases it might be felt that individual sessions may be of greater benefit, or as a pre-requisite to group work.
This provision of Conductive Education is carried out on a weekly basis to provide continuation of learning and support.
Sessions are run in term time only for an hour and a half, two hours, four hours or five hours dependent on age and needs. The term dates for 2009-2010 can be downloaded here (PDF).
This was trialled in 2006 and has so far proved successful with over 40 block sessions in less than four years.
Participants attend the centre for three and a half hours a day, five days per week for a period ranging from one week to a month to receive Intensive Conductive Education sessions.
This is often a more suitable solution for people who have long distances to travel to reach the centre and for adults who may have work commitments and may not be able to attend on a weekly basis.
People who attend Megan Baker House are placed within groups according to age and ability.
