Dyspraxia Group

We have been working with children who have Developmental Co-ordination Delay since 2003 and are now running four groups per week, Wednesdays 2.00pm until 4.00pm, Thursdays 9.00am until 12.00pm and on Fridays 11.30am until 1.30pm and 2.00pm until 4.00pm in term time only.

During the sessions we address the difficulties the children might face,  these include balance, co-ordination, perception, proprioception, fine motor skills, social skills, confidence, daily living skills, such as dressing or time management.

We also run block sessions, please take a look at the timetable to see when the next one is.

Feedback:

"On my first day I felt so welcome.  Kids my own age who understand - it felt so comforting.  The staff are very kind and they really care.  Ten out of ten keep up the good work!" Aaron aged 13 after his first session

"I thought that you would like to know that the work that you have been doing with Nathan has really given him the confidence and ability to take part.....he shows me what he has been learning during your sessions and is able to demonstrate to his peer group with pride and a huge sense of achievement" Headteacher (Nathan)

"Nathan really enjoys his sessions and although he finds them hard work, he really gets a sense of achievement from them.  His movement and coordination has greatly improved...His confidence and self esteem are sky high and he is now very willing to try new things, which before he would not have even considered" Parent (Nathan)

Megan Baker House has helped me with physical problems...I instantly noticed the difference.  Everyday activities which were a struggle are now a lot easier to contend with (e.g. getting dressed) also since attending my confidence has improved considerably and has made every aspect of life a lot better.  All of this is due to Megan Baker House staff, who have been great, I can't begin to describe how grateful I am.  Megan Baker House is the best decision you could make to improve your life, living with a disability.  Sophie aged 14

Megan Baker House is the only place that I have found that understands my daughters difficulties and really cares.  Since she started...she has blossomed and found confidence in herself... As a parent I feel I can ask questions or voice worries without being made to feel like an over anxious parent, or patronised which I have often encountered before.  I have met other parents and look forward to chatting with them, comparing notes, understanding and not being embarrassed.  I wish I had found Megan Baker House years ago and will always be grateful for what they have done for Sophie - she now believes in herself' Parent (Sophie)
